Salute from the Shore Hilton Head Island
The third annual Salute from the Shore will take place on all of South Carolina’s beaches from 1:00 to 1:30 on the Fourth of July. This special event honors our armed forces with a military flyover of the entire coast of South Carolina. For the third time in a row, the event is sponsored by the Salute from the Shore organization as well as the Town of Pawleys Island. This year is particularly special, as the flyover will be conducted by the 79th Fighter Squadron “The Flying Tigers” of the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base. “The Flying Tigers” were the last armed forces to leave Iraq, giving air support as the ground forces left Iraq.
The event will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon at Little River, near the border with North Carolina. The squadron will fly over the entire coast of South Carolina, ending to the south of Hilton Head Island. Those planning to salute the squadron as they fly over are encouraged to wear red, white and blue. Participants are also encouraged to share photos and videos of the event on social networks available to our armed forces serving all over the world. A video of the flyover will be made and posted on www.salutefromtheshore.org.
If you plan to come out and salute our armed forces this Fourth of July, be sure to arrive well before 1:00 so that you don’t miss out on this great opportunity to salute our armed forces.
