BBQ Rib Burnoff on Hilton Head Island

An annual Hilton Head Island tradition returns on Saturday, May 19, as the Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head BBQ Rib Burnoff is once again celebrated the Saturday after Mother’s Day. The BBQ Rib Burnoff is the biggest BBQ event each year on Hilton Head Island, and this year will be no exception. The event takes place at Hilton Head’s Coastal Discovery Museum, located on the 68-acre Honey Horn Plantation. The normally sedate fields of Honey Horn will be transformed into a lively festival filled with the mouth-watering smells of the best BBQ the island has to offer.

The Kiwanis Club’s BBQ Rib Burnoff truly begins the night before, when a combination of local restaurant chefs and top-notch amateurs begin slow-cooking their BBQ, competing both for trophies and bragging rights for another year. In addition to the cooking, there will be music and great conversation. For the event’s younger visitors, there will be inflatable castles and slides in addition to displays by the Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department. Proceeds will benefit local children’s charities.
